Invited by Hunan Normal University, an eight-member delegation led by President Sidney A. McPhee of Middle Tennessee State University, USA visited HNU on August 4^th to 7^th.

In the afternoon of August 4^th, HNU president Liu Xiangrong held the welcoming ceremony for President McPhee and his delegation. HNU Vice President Jiang Hongxin, Director of President Office Liu Qijun, Director of Foreign Studies College Chen Yunjiang, Deputy Director of Office of International Exchange & Cooperation Tang Jianwen and HNU students who have studied in MTSU also attended the welcoming ceremony.

President Liu Xiangrong welcomed President McPhee and Mrs. McPhee’s visit to HNU.
He said the exchange and cooperation between the two universities started as early as 6 years ago and it has made great achievements. he believed that with the efforts of both sides, the cooperation and friendship between the two universities would be widened and deepened.

President Liu Xiangrong then gave a brief introduction of HNU and its 70^th anniversary to the guests and wished President McPhee a pleasant stay in China.

President McPhee also introduced MTSU to President Liu Xiangrogn. Both sides discussed the exchange activities in the future and agreed to jointly hold the International Mathematics Workshop in Changsha after two years.
