Nov,13th, Hunan Normal University, Changsha, Ms.Marie Madeleine Mialot,

Cochairman of the Region Center, France as well as Mr. Gondrand, the Business Consul of French Consulate General in Guangzhou, paid HNU a visit in a group of four. HNU President Liu Xiangrong, Vice President Jiang Hongxin, Vice Chairmen of University Council Zhou Junwu, Deputy Director of the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Hunan Province, Fu Huaxing and other personages presented at the reception ceremony.

President Liu extended his warm welcome to all the guests, and made an introduction of HNU. He believed that the mutual communication between the two sides had already strided steps substantially, and this visit would add a more aspiring impact. Cochairman Ms.Marie Madeleine Mialot, in her speech, said that government of the Region Center would actively support the exchange and cooperation between the colleges of both sides. Besides, the two sides also talked over the matters of signing agreement of communication and cooperation between Orleans University and HNU, establishing French Language Department at HNU, setting up a Confucius Institute in the Region Center and the like.

In the March of 2006, HNU, as the only representative of higher education of Hunan Province, HNU attended the Promotion and Introduction Expo of Hunan and French Region Center. In the following May, President Liu Xianrong with a delegation from HNU visited the region at invitation, which drew much attention from foreign affairs departments of both governments. In May of 2007, President of Orleans University visited HNU with his delegation, during which formal contracts were signed by the two sides. Later in October, another delegation from the College of Chemistry and Chemical Industry of HUN paid a return visit to Orleans University.The agreement on sending HNU's teachers to France for short-term scientific research and joint PhD program were approved.

Guo Xiangli, Director of Sister City Office of FOCAOHP, Zhan Tengfang, Director of HNU's United-Front Department, Ran Yi, Director of HNU's OIEC, Yin Dulin, Dean of College of Chemistry and Chemical Industry and Deng Guiyang, Director of Council of Educational Sciences College also presented the meeting.
