At Mogao Caves Restaurant, Beijing, Vice President Jiang Hongxin met President Antonio Muscio along with relevant deans and professors from HNU’s partnership university, University of Foggia, Italy, on the afternoon of Oct.21. Both sides had a close and pleasant talk during the meeting. Vice President Jiang, on behalf of President Liu Xiangrong, presented his warm welcome to President Muscio and the 13-member delegation. Then, by citing the history of Ancient Silk Road conceived by Mogao Caves Restaurant, he hoped the Italian friends will carry on the career initiated by Marco Polo to make further progress on the friendship between the two universities. President Jiang also invited President Muscio to visit HUN. President Muscio expressed his sincere thanks for the host’s hospitality and friendliness, and spoke highly of the development of HNU and China. Meanwhile, he showed his will to promote substantial cooperation and exchange between the two universities.

University of Foggia is located in Foggia City, the central city of Puglia Plain, southeast of Italy, standing by Mediterranean Sea and embracing beautiful natural scenery and rich historical legacies. This university, founded in 1999, is a young and vigorous public university with almost 7,000 students in 5 colleges.

Foggia University and HNU signed the exchange agreement in 2005 and worked jointly in EU program of Asian-Link. The teachers exchange and scientific research programs will be put in force in the coming November. This is President Muscio’s first trip to China, which aims to attend China International Education Expo 2007 in Beijing.
