A Student Delegation from Frostburg State University, USA visited HNU
With the purpose of learning Chinese culture and Chinese educational system, an 8-student group led by Prof. Henry Bullamore (Professor of Geography) and Prof. Kenneth Witmer(Dean of Education College))from Frostburg State University, USA visited HNU from Jan 8th to 20th.
HNU¡¯s Vice President Jiang Hongxin met with the delegation and attended the farewell banquet on Jan. 20th. Ran Yi, Director of OIEC and Tang Jianwen, Deputy Director of OIEC also attended the banquet. During the banquet, Vice President Jiang spoke highly of the American students¡¯visit to Hunan and HNU this time, which provided a good opportunity for both universities¡¯ students to get to know each other, to establish friendship, which helped the American students to have a clearer understanding of China¡¯s higher education and Chinese society. Vice President Jiang also discussed with Prof. Henry Bullamore and Prof. Kenneth Witmer about further cooperation between two institutions in the very near future and welcomed the students and faculty to come to HNU again any time. All the American students expressed that they have had wonderful experiences in Changsha and been very impressive about China and HNU though it was their first time to visit China, and had benefited more from their stay than they expected.
It is reported that it is the first time for Frostburg State University to send students group to visit HNU. During their stay in HNU, the students visited the campus especially the University Kindergarten and High School Attached to HNU, attended the course of the survey of Chinese culture, Chinese calligraphy, Shadowboxing (Taiji Quan) and so on. They also paid a visit to Shaoshan, the former Chairman Mao Zedong’s birthplace, Yuelu Academy, Provincial Museum, Tianxin Tower and Dufu Tower by the river . The students were issued Completed Certificates by HNU when they finished their courses and activities successfully in Changsha.
