Hunan Normal University, Changsha, Dec. 1, 2006: An elegant concert by Hunan Symphony Orchestra was performed in the middle hall of gymnasium on the evening of Nov. 30, which set out an open to the 20th Campus Culture & Art Festivall and the 12th Student Academic Festival. Chairman of our University Council Zhang Guoji and Vice-President Ji Xuefeng presented the opening ceremony together with more than 1000 HNU students.

After Zhang Guoji declared the opening announcement, a symphony called “Firebrand Festival” raised the curtain for the Concert that featured “Coming Close to the Masters, Listening Respectfully to the Classics”. Under the direction of the Conductor and President of Hunan Symphony Orchestra Xiao Ming, the artists exerted their efforts to make the concert engrossing. Singers Xue Jiao and Huang Jiankai’s performance pushed the concert to the highest point, earning waves of applause from the audiences. The concert was fueled with students’ enthusiasm that also affected every artist to perform the best despite of the invasion of cold air. The concert was ended up with the fifth chapter “Joining Forces in Victory” of symphony “Long March”.

The carnival and festival full of activeness, passion and charms are eye-catching scenery of our campus culture. It is also a special brand of our deliberated work for campus culture, academy and quality education. The whole event consisted of several sections, Four Stars Competition, Academic Lecture, College Culture and Art Show, Student Literature Creating Award, College Student Appearance Design, Exhibition of Excellent Scientific Works in the Challenge Cup Competition, and Selection of 10 Outstanding Student in Scientific Innovation. The carnival and festival set up a broader platform for our students.
