Hunan Normal University, Changsha, Nov. 30 2006: Biology and Medicine Sub-Forum of the First Hunan Graduate Innovation Forum and the 6th HNU Graduate “Lu Shan Forum” Academic Annual Meeting was opened in the International Academic Auditorium. Liu Yun, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Party Secretary Zhang Guoji, Vice-President Liang Songping, Director of Hunan Academic Degree Administration Office Xiao Xiangyu and person in charge of Graduate Administration Office of HNU were presented at the meeting. After Shanghai and Jiangsu, this is the third graduate innovation forum at the provincial level in China.

     Zhang Guoji gave opening remarks. He reviewed the excellent achievements of the past five “Lu Shan Forum” and pointed out that the forum has become an academic brand of HNU, the graduates are expected to keep up with advanced academy, to amend the method of innovation and to activate mind with a wide range of thoughts. He also expressed thanks to Hunan Education Department for their trust and support. He said that HNU will work hard to meet provincial leaders’ expectation and to ensure a satisfactory ending of the forum. Xiao Xiangyu analyzed the significance of the forum and hope we will take advantage of the opportunity to improve ourselves and contribute to the academic development in Hunan. Then Liu Yun announced the open of the forum, Li Zhengxin, researcher of the marine research station of Chinese Academy of Sciences delivered a lecture on The Mysterious Marine Life.

     The First Hunan Graduate Innovation Forum is sponsored by Academic Degree Committee of Hunan government, Hunan Education Department, HNU Graduate Union. The forum is aimed to improve academic exchange and graduates’ capacities of practice and innovation. More than 300 graduates from Central South University and Hunan University and HNU participated in the opening ceremony.
