Wu Weiping and Xia Yin, two students in our university, came to the fore out of the 55 competitors from 25 foreign languages colleges, comprehensive universities or normal universities, in the Fifth Russian Language Competition in the southern area of China. Wu Weiping, junior student in the Russian Department, won the third prize in the senior competition group; Xia Yin, sophomore in the Russian Department, attained a winning prize.
　　In recent years, students in the Russian Department of HNU have achieved remarkable results in this competition. For example, Bin Xin, a freshman in the Russian Department in 1999, gained a prize in 2002, who was sent to study in St. Petersburg University in 2003 and is now studying for a doctorate degree in Russia.
